Darren Horley, WSMR's Mobilisation Director, emphasizes their goal: "linking towns and cities which aren't currently connected." Previous services faced criticism for their travel time, but Horley assures that the new service will be quicker, approximately four hours from Wrexham to London.

Carl Jones, a director of Shropshire Chamber of Commerce, highlights the county's unique position as the only one in England without a direct rail link to London. This, he argues, could hinder business growth and the county's appeal to potential companies. Nick Millington, Network Rail's Route Director for Wales and Borders, supports this view, citing the area's growth and the Welsh Assembly's backing.

Buckley feels the momentum is building, with support for infrastructure improvements, including Shrewsbury station. She envisions a redesigned station as part of a 10-year plan, with a two-storey car park, a vibrant front plaza, and enhanced bus links. "The station's front should be a lively plaza, not a car park," she says, "a place to relax and enjoy a panini and cappuccino."

There's also a proposal for a new parkway station east of Shrewsbury, a project Ian Baxter from SLC is passionate about. While a site is yet to be confirmed, Baxter assures easy access to the county town's roads. With SLC's experience in developing parkway stations like Warwick and Worcester, Baxter estimates a timeline of four to six years.
